Meaningful online learning experience in the K-12 setting is important because it will:
 

• Allow students to become familiar with a key means of increasing their own learning skills and knowledge;
• Prepare students for the demands that they will encounter in higher education, the workplace, and in personal life-long learning;
• Align with today’s student’s media-rich lives;
• Require students to complete assignments, meet deadlines, learn appropriate online behavior, and effectively collaborate with others in a larger variety of instructional settings; and 
• Provide well-trained teachers with opportunities to offer students dynamic and engaging learning environments.
